Something New

Do you know why I couldn't post daily article these days? I have tons of excuses. Okay, I'll tell you why...because we have something new in Washoku Cafe !!

Because of so many customer's inquiry, we now have Curry Rice on our regular menu!
If you are familiar with Japanese food, you might know what's the difference between OUR Curry Rice and something you can get at 28th Street & Lexington or East 6th Street. If you are not, I'll tell you that.
Our curry sauce is much thicker than South-Asian one, lots of chunky ingredients and
not too spicy. If you've never try it, it's a good chance to explore Japanese comfort food.

We serve Vegetable Curry for $7.00
Vegetable Curry with Chicken or Pork Cutlet for $9.00
Both come with green salad.

Another one? I'll tell you later...;-)

Warm Weekend

I know not everybody can adjust their body for this crazy weather. What a heck was that yesterday? 60's in mid-feburuary? I left home without heavy coat and scarf, and even socks to have brunch in Chinatown. Every year, I accidentally hit Chinese New Year's Parade and I always feel regret because of that huge crowd. But I had a great time for both eating & watching. There's no big budget required to enjoy weekends.

Do you want me to tell today's deal ?
Okay, let's move on !

Chikuzen-Ni

If you want to make your body strong and cold-fighting ? Eat root veggies. (No, I'm not your mom. I know.)

It's Monday Again...

How was your Football night?
I actually didn't watch the game completely because it was boring...I enjoy that only the last 30 minutes of the game.

Last season seemed to be more dramatically for me. Since Giants ends its season at playoff, I was not really interested in that (as I posted on Friday). But I had Japanese snack and booze, and enjoy watching VERY-American half time show :-)

Anyway, you had happy night or not, another Monday had come.
If you are suffering from hangover, try our noodle soup to soothe your stomach.

Let's move to Today's Lunch Combo;

Kara-Age Fried Chicken
Marinated chicken with house seasoning, then battered and deep-fried.
Must-have dish for lunch plate in Japanese home cooking.

Chikuzen-Ni

Taramo Salad
Originally from Greece/Turkey, but I'm not sure why it became so popular in Japan. And that's true some Japanese people believes it's traditional Japanese cuisine. I have to educate them :-)
Actually, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine are very familiar to us. Babaganoush, Hummus, Grape leaves and Farafel are always in stock in my fridge.
And Turkish people is always surprised when they find Doner Kebab vendor on the street in Tokyo which always have long line.

Oops, I forgot to tell you what it is. It's a potato salad mixed with cod roe.
